4It's vinyl underneath...Apr 15, 2009
By Samantha
Just a quick review here to let you know that this IS vinyl as its final layer (layer that goes closest to the mattress). My little one just moved into a "big boy bed" and I was looking for underpads to further protect the mattress (in addition to the mattress cover we have on) and that would be quick to change if he leaked overnight (diapers) and for when he starts truly toilet training. But I did NOT want a vinyl-layered one. There are such good ones out there that protect every bit as well but don't use that hot, body-heat-reflecting vinyl layer. I could NOT find an answer anywhere here OR on Target's site about whether this had vinyl or not, so I bought it, figuring I'd take the chance. It DOES have vinyl. So if you're also not wanting vinyl and can't figure out if this has it or not - here's your answer. Yes it does.

If you want a really nice one that does not use vinyl (even though it does not have the nifty tuck-under flaps), try the Duro-Med 3-Ply Quilted Reuseable Underpad. I got that one too and it's really nice. And not hot.

Can't say a word about how this "Soaker" actually works - I'm sure it works just fine! - because we'll likely be returning it and getting a second Duro-Med.

5Matress PadsJan 03, 2007
By Jeannette Richards
This item is great if you have someone who is incontinent and want to protect the mattress. It is not limited to babies. I am using for my 26 year old disabled son and it will absorb one soaking by an adult before it is saturated. We use it as a backup to his attends and it has protected the matress.

We now have a grandbaby coming and will be buying more for the crib. I would recommend this to anyone who needs this type of coverage, easy to wash, easy to use and it does the job of protecting the mattress.

5Excellent product for adult needs.Jan 28, 2007

Just an update - a year later, the pads are holding up well. I really can't praise them enough.

Like the other reviewer, I purchased two of these pads for use with my 23 year old disabled child. My daughter wears a Depends and we supplement with disposable pads (which are very thin), and I am thrilled with the quality of the Soaker product. They wash well (cool water, cool tumble dry)and are well worth the money. They appear to be very well made - hopefully they will last a long while, but at this price it won't be a hardship to replace them. I highly recommend this product.

5Best bed protection for a potty training toddler!May 22, 2007
By Shabby Chic Mom "Bridget"
I LOVE these pads! I got two so that one gets wet the other can go on right away. No more changing the sheets every single day. I wish I would have known about this for my other two kids. These also wash up well and really hold a lot of liquid. :-)

3Soaker - Yes , Waterproof - NotJul 06, 2011
By Bob Rhodes
I really wanted to like this product because the shape and tuck-in flaps are perfect for its use. After opening the package, I still wanted to have faith that this super thin and lightweight pad would somehow puff up and soak up any accidents. On its first use, the pad became saturated to the point that liquid not only soaked through but also managed to spill over the sides. I consider the pad to be water resistant with little to no absorption.

I still use the pad. I found that if I place a bath towel on top of the pad, the bed itself will remain dry. The pad was tested on an incontinent parent who wears and wore a "Depends" like product during its use.
