A Very Good ValueFeb 07, 2012

The M-Tech 423 is sturdy and attractive folding knife (please see the images that I've uploaded). The wood panel on the front is nice-looking, but as it's held on only by two small, counter-sunk screws, I wouldn't expect it too last very long with active use. Fortunately, it's easy to remove without adversely effecting either appearance or function. While the knife is constructed with mostly Torx (star) screws (T-2 &T-3), the most critical connection--closest to the blade pivot--is riveted--a plus for such an inexpensive knife. The knife blade is engraved:
440 Steel USA Design Handcrafted in China
The knife weighs-in at 100 grams (3.5 ounces). The handle, with or without the wooden panel attached, is ergonomically designed and fits my (large) hand and fingers very well. Out of the box, the opening mechanism is a bit stiff, but can easily be opened and closed with one hand. It loosens-up a bit with use.
The knife blade was very sharp out of the box. Now that I've purchased enough inexpensive M-Tech folding knives, I'm now pretty sure that the sharpness of the blade varies. Most important here is that M-Tech blades are easily sharpened and hold an edge well. I really like the natural silver finish that won't show wear nearly as easily as the black finishes currently in vogue.
At under $10 with shipping, the M-Tech #423 is a very good value. I recommend it.

Great knife!Jan 01, 2011
By volcanologist This is a great knife! It's a great size...it's wider than most 3 1/2 blade size knives and therefore gives it the appearance of being a larger knife than it actually is. It's attractive too. I really love this knife!
