Complete with opening top to release the lovely chime-like tones, this smaller version is designed for a child with serious musical aspirations.Each piano in the series is custom built from solid maple and 1/2" multi-ply birch, stained in mahogany or painted in your choice of white or black, with the interior hand-finished to match the selected exterior. The hinge is designed to raise and lower gradually, so as not to slam down on little fingers. Schoenhut's patented Learning System, with its play-by-color teaching method, makes playing simple and fun. A removable color strip fits behind the keys to guide small fingers from chord to chord. The chart will also work on adult keyboards, since keys on Schoenhut toy pianos are of corresponding width. This teaches children proper "finger stretch" from the very beginning. The accompanying Songbook contains a collection of familiar tunes. This Learning System has been specially designed to build a child's confidence and develop basic playing skills. Chromatically tuned, the sound is produced by little hammers striking precision-ground, German steel music rods (versus the conventional taut wires used in full-sized models). The Schoenhut Concert Grand Piano is fantastic. The piano looks just like a real Grand Piano and the cabinetry finish is beautiful. With 37 keys, it is fully capable of playing a large selection of music. The key guides are very helpful when learning to play and the sound and tones are very good. In short, we wanted a piano for our daughter that would entertain her now as well as help her learn to play as she grows up. This piano is an investment that will do just that

My wife and I did a bunch of research on this piano, and read many reviews. Most seemed very favorable. She also noticed that it won a Dr. Toy award. Imagine our surprise when we received this piano and half of the keys produced basically no sound. They produced a dull thud of a noise, but certainly no real piano sound. The keys were all extremely loose and some did not come back up once they were depressed. Each key had approximately 1 inch of movement in all directions.
Now I have no idea if were just very unlucky and got a dud, but at $200, this thing is worthless.
